DSA (Disabled Students' Allowance) is funding for students in higher education that provides support for disabilities. This includes learning difficulties such as dyslexia, mental health conditions such as anxiety, or if you have a neurodivergent condition such as autism. The funding can provide various forms of support such as a laptop and software, an allowance for printing materials, or, what we specialise in, one to one in person support tutors and mentors to help guide students with their learning and wellbeing.
Ideally, you should apply for DSA when applying for student finance. Every year we see students who have left it till September to apply, this can mean many months of delays. Our experience is that if you apply for DSA when applying for student finance, following the steps on the how to apply page of this site will minimise any difficulties or delays.
If you choose to ask your needs assessor for us F2F Support, you will also get a free session online or in person with a tutor or mentor prior to starting your university course. This session will allow you to get to know who your tutor or mentor will be before you begin university. This is something that we at F2F do that other providers do not. This makes a big difference to students when making the move to university and is something we have been doing for a number of years. Please email or call us to find out more.
